Victoria features nearly a dozen vegan venues, multiple plant-based options, and many restaurants and other spots with substantial vegan offerings. The main categories are:
- Vegan Restaurants (and food trucks)
- Vegan Businesses (typically treats, or specialty businesses)
- Plant-based Restaurants (often mostly vegan choices, but do have some non-vegan items to watch for, often noted in the description)
- Plant-based Businesses
- Vegan Offerings (not vegan or plant-based, but worth looking into if your kind of thing!)
Over 50 venues listed, and continuing to grow! (As of January 6th, 2025.) Are we missing someone? Send in a suggestion!

Classification & Standards
At The Victoria Vegan we take veganism seriously, and apply this to our classification system in the Victoria Vegan Venue Guide.
We feel that for a place to be classified as ‘vegan’, it should be somewhere a vegan can walk into, and feel comfortable knowing that every food item meets a fairly baseline standard of what vegan means.
If we feel a venue doesn’t meet this standard, they will be labelled as ‘Plant-based’. Common ingredients that appear in Victoria include Oreo cookies, which are in fact not vegan, and I’ve written in detail about that on a different blog that can be found here. The Impossible Burger and Just Egg are also products of animal testing, and are not vegan as well.
I’ve approached all venues privately about this matter, and shared this information. Any that receive this label have made their own decisions, for example: that promoting and celebrating Oreo cookies and the brands associated with them is a higher priority than maintaining vegan values, and is reflected in this this classification system.
Disputes and appeals are welcome, I’m always open to communicate (which some of these venues are not based on my past experience), simply use the contact form to get in touch.
Are All Venues In Victoria/Greater Victoria?
Most are! But some notable spots are in Sidney or up-island, and we want to highlight them as well, so technically this is the Vancouver Island Vegan Venue Guide. 😊
Can I Send In A Suggestion?
Absolutely! Just head over to the contact page and let us know!
Located on Memory Lane
There are quite a few spots that have come and gone, but below are some notable ones that we’d like to list for posterity.
- Lotus Pond – a long-time staple, Buddhist Chinese food, RIP turnip cakes.
- Sarah’s Place – located in Market Square above Green Cuisine, run by Sarah Kramer of ‘How It All Vegan’ fame, it was a great little vegan curios shop.
- Vshoen – the only vegan footware store Victoria has seen, but grateful to have them when they were here.
